The Audi R8 – Sleek, Elegant, Sweet

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Audi R8

Luxurious – one of the adjectives to best describe with the Audi brand. The Audi R8 surely has luxury written all over it. One look will be all you’ll need to see that the Audi R8 has a smooth, sleek and elegant form, swift aerodynamic feel and smooth, shiny polish.

The Audi R8 has surely been making waves in its “exotic supercar” category. The Audi R8 is proof indeed that Audi has built something “very, very special”. Built on the Lamborghini Gallardo platform, the Audi R8 takes its inspiration from the Audi Le Mans Quattro concept car. It was officially launched at the Paris Auto Show in 2006. The biggest competitor of the Audi R8 is the Porsche Carrera. But the Audi R8 seems to have a particular edge over the Porsche Carrera, Evo magazine even goes as far to say that, “Audi humbles Porsche. A new dawn starts today.”

The Audi R8 is a two-door coupe equipped with a 4.2 L engine and  aV8 6-speed manual or
6-speed semi-automatic transmission. Its length measures 4431 mm (174.4 in) while its width is at 1904 mm (74.9 in) and its height is at 1249 mm (49.2 in). The Audi R8 has a curb weight1560 kg (3439 lb). Its top speed measures a swift 187 mph (301km/h)

The impressive coupe will go on sale by 2008 with a base price of $109,000.

Audi Declares an Increase in Sales for October 2007

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

It seems like things have been looking up for both Volkswagen and Audi (Volkswagen’s luxury line). As Volkswagen announced an 8.3 percent increase in sales for the month of October, Audi follows in suit as it released a statement saying that it has just had a 5.3 percent increase in sales for October 2007 as well. Audi sold 76,900 cars last month as compared to the 73,050 cars it sold in October 2006.

Ralph Weyler, head of the marketing and sales division of Audi was confident that the company would be able to meet its goal of selling 950,000 cars by the end of the year 2007. Weyler said that, “”Owing to last month’s results, we are extremely confident about the final months of 2007”. In the United States alone, sales rose to 15.4 percent with 7,421 units sold, while sales for Audi cars in Britain rose to 12.8 percent with a sale of 7, 066 cars. In Germany, sales rose to 5.5 percent with 23, 742 car units sold. But the greatest increase came from the Asia Pacific region with 10, 100 cars sold (an increase of 17.9 in sales).

Volkswagen has already established itself as one of the world’s most loved and popular car brands and it seems that its sister company, Audi, will be doing the same.
