Thursday, October 25th, 2007

Audi AG has standardized MD Nastran as the company’s technology intended for vehicle simulation. This was announced by MSC.Software, the main provider of enterprise simulation services, software and solutions. There are over 100 MD Nastran installations that will be organized and arranged in Audi’s site for development and design in 2007 and early next year.

After the given statement, the booming and remarkable uses of engineering product solutions particularly MSC.Nastran and Adams were stated. Audi lately teamed up with MSC.Software in the development of CAEBench system. The system uses simulation and was built around SimManager Enterprise.

In opting for MD Nastran, Audi aims to have improvement for design and efficiency. This would eventually provide remarkable cost and quality benefits. Using MD Nastran ensures that Audi can have a well-organized and verifiable control for all of its data and processes.

Audi Type M – Restored into a Cutaway Model

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

Completely restoring the Audi 18/70 hp Type M to a cutaway model form is such a great challenge. This is the task of Audi Tradition – restoring the 1925 model with the help of experts in vehicle restoration at Fahrzeugrestaurierung Rosenow.

As Spiller said, “The demands placed on everyone working on the project were incredibly high, because the bodymakers, leatherworkers and cartwrights had to keep coordinating their efforts.” The specialist for classic vehicles also stressed that creating a cutaway model from Audi 18/70 hp Type M is really a challenge for their expertise. From the planning and preparation of refurbishment, every detail is accurately examined, making the project complicated and requiring complete concentration.

The whole team of Spillner gives their full commitment within three and a half years of restoring the Audi six-cylinder vehicle. The chassis received repair and vehicle’s floor was finished from high-quality acrylic glass. However, the vehicle’s engine remains since the component is admirably undamaged, allowing the team to simply include a crankcase made from light alloy. Additional features were also integrated like the four-wheel brake and hydraulic shock absorbers. Audi Type M initially features this kind of absorbers.

The presentation of Audi 18/70 hp Type M back in December 1924 was one of the appealing and awaited events at the prestigious Berlin Motor Show. This demonstrated and proved Audi’s conviction of constructing precisely detailed vehicles bearing great quality.

Dubbed as the Audi Q7 4.2 TDI V8, this innovative engine will be offered to the Australian market by the end of 2007. Reports say that it is capable of unleashing 240 kW and 760 Nm of torque.

Even before official word were released, Australia already saw what the new engine can do with two Audi Q7 4.2 TDI models participated in the company’s across-Australia ‘Trans-Continental Crossing’ event which ran from 30 August to 24 September.

Australia will get a preview as the new Q7 4.2 TDI will be displayed at the Australian International Motor Show.

Audi going green

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

Audi is set on making a difference in green vehicles with their new technologies, which covers alternate fuels, the latest clean diesel and a hybrid version of the Q7, as reported by The Gazette.

These were discussed in Audi’s TechDay forum in Ingolstadt, Germany, including the great developments the German carmaker has done in recent years.

One of these is impressively shown in Audi’s engine. The 2.8-litre and 3.2-litre FSI engines feature a variable valve-lift system which is more efficient, since it can operate on a low-lift cam lobe below 4,000 rpm. If more power is needed, the engine can easily deliver it by switching to a high-lift lobe.  This engine generates more power and can reduce fuel consumption by more than five percent.

Aside from all the benefits in terms of power the new Audi engines, the exhaust also come into play.  In fact, the latest 3.0-litre V6 TDI that will debut in mid-2008 in the Q7 has an ultra-low emissions system.
